WG Announcements

Bus T was late departing WGMS this afternoon. Students riding that bus will be late arriving at their destinations.

This week’s WGMS spring concerts will begin at 6:30pm: Choir 5/23, Band 5/24, Orchestra 5/25. All concerts will be held at JMHS.

Hoopla for Heart Variety Show May 27

The Hoopla for Heart Variety Show will be held on Friday, May 27.  Dinner is provided and will begin at 5:30 PM, followed by the show at 6:00 PM.  The cost of entry is a $2 donation to the American Heart Association.  Children under 5 years old are free.

Spring Concerts May 23-25, 6:30 PM at JMHS

The WGMS Fine Arts Department will have their spring concerts at James Monroe High School this week:

Monday, May 23 – Choir

Tuesday, May 24 – Band

Wednesday, May 25 – Orchestra

All concerts are at 6:30pm and admission is free.

SOL Testing

SOL Testing begins on Tuesday, May 24 (see attached schedule).  Students and parents are reminded of the importance of being present and on time each day.  Students should get plenty of rest and make sure to eat a good breakfast before coming to school.

Graduation Information

Eighth grade graduation will be Thursday, June 16, starting at 9:00 A.M. in the WGMS gymnasium. No one will be admitted to the gym after 9:00 A.M. Anyone arriving after the ceremony starts will have to watch from the cafeteria via a live video feed.

Graduates must have on proper attire or they will not be allowed to participate in graduation. Boys are required to wear black or navy blue dress pants, white shirt, black or navy blue tie, and dress shoes (no tennis shoes or boots). Suit jackets and/or vests are optional and, if worn, must be black or navy blue.

Girls are required to wear a black, navy blue, or white dress OR black or navy blue skirt and white blouse OR black or navy blue dress pants and white blouse with dress shoes (no flip flops or tennis shoes). Dresses and skirts must conform to the WGMS dress code.

Each graduate will receive 4 tickets. Tickets will be distributed to students on Monday, June 13. Questions or concerns should be addressed to Mr. Eddie Haynes or Mrs. Laurie Haynes in our PE Department.

 

Teacher and Paraprofessional of the Quarter

Congratulations to Mrs. Susan Ingebretsen, Gifted Education Teacher, who was named WG Teacher of the Quarter for the 3rd nine weeks. Congratulations also go out to Mrs. Jennifer Phoebus, WG Paraprofessional of the Quarter for the 3rd nine weeks.

All parents are asked to sign and return the form letter indicating your preferences regarding SOL re-take opportunities for your child. A second copy of this letter is being sent home with students today. If you have not previously done so, please sign and return this form as soon as possible.

American Heart Association Fundraiser

We are joining millions of others to help save lives with the American Heart Association! We are excited about raising life-saving donations for kids and adults effected by heart disease. Students donating $5 will receive a bone lanyard and super pup.  Wear your lanyard for admission to the Hoopla for Heart Variety Show on May 27.

Cross Country at JMHS

8th graders interested in running cross country at JMHS, please plan to attend an organizational meeting on Tuesday, May 10, in room 215 at JMHS.  Meeting times are 3pm and 6pm.  You may attend either session.
