WG Announcements

8th Grade Graduation Information

Eighth grade graduation will be held on Thursday, June 11, at 9:00 AM.  Anyone arriving after graduation begins will have to watch from the cafeteria via a live video feed.  Each graduate will receive 4 tickets.  Tickets will be distributed to students on Monday, June 8.

Graduates must have on proper attire or they will not be allowed to participate.  Boys are required to wear black or navy blue dress pants, white shirt, and black tie.  No tennis shoes, boots, or flip flops are allowed.  Girls are required to wear a black and/or white dress, black skirt, or black slacks and a white collared shirt.

Reading Counts Winners

Third quarter Reading Count winners were: 6th grade – Lucy Hensley, Georgia Jones, and Reid Furner-Moore; 7th grade – Grace LaMarca, Tyriq Coleman, and Tovah Baer; 8th grade – Ingrid Jones, Eva Heller, and ZeaMarie Anderson.

Anti-Bullying Contest

Students are invited to show us how to stand up against bullying by entering our school-wide contest before May 27.  Students may write a short story, poem, song, or make a poster and submit it to Mrs. Gebhart in room 229.  Winners will be announced at the after-school dance on May 29.

Honors for Latin Exam

Congratulations to the following Latin students who took the exam and received honors:

Summa Cum Laude Gold – Gina Elkin

Maxima Cum Laude Silver – Lila Cobey and Will Rowe

Magna Cum Laude – Keva Kerr, Bronson McLeod, April Kim, Adonys Knox, and Jordan Ridderhof

Midnight Madness Summer Series

Fredericksburg Parks and Recreation will host Midnight Madness at WGMS on Fridays from 8:00pm to midnight June 19 through August 28.  Each evening will include an educational workshop in addition to playing basketball in a structured setting.  July 17 will be Splash Time at Dixon Park Pool.  The Summer Series is free and is open to city residents between the ages of 11 and 17.  Fredericksburg City Schools will provide bus transportation to and from Walker-Grant.  Pre-registration is required and will begin on May 14.

End of Year Awards

6th and 7th Grade Awards Assemblies will be held on Monday, June 8 (9:15 AM for 7th grade, 12:30 PM for 6th grade).
