WG Announcements

Track Team Tryouts

Any student who likes to run, jump, or throw is encouraged to try out for the WGMS Track Team.  Tryouts begin Monday, February 29.  Please sign up in the main office and pick up an informational flyer and physical form.  You must have a current VHSL physical on file, and you must have qualifying grades (no F’s and no more than one D on quarter 2 report card).  Please see Mrs. Slominski if you have questions.

Softball and Baseball Sign-Ups

Students interested in trying out for girls’ softball or boys’ baseball should sign up in the main office.  You must have a current VHSL physical on file, and you must have a glove.  Questions may be directed to Coach Silver or Coach Turner.

JM JV Boys’ Soccer Tryouts

JM JV boys’ soccer tryouts are the week of February 22.  Interested 8th grade boys must have a 2.0 grade point average to be eligible to try out.  A current VHSL sports physical must be turned in to Coach Brindley on the day of tryouts.

All-District Band

Eighth grader Emily Kabza will represent WGMS in the Symphonic All-District Band. Emily was chosen 1st chair oboe.

PTA Reflections District Winner

Sixth grader Grace Maynard came in 1st Place in the Film category for the Fredericksburg District PTA Reflections contest.  Grace’s entry will now be judged on the state level.  Grace will be recognized at the District Reflections reception in the Spring.

Early Dismissal Friday, 2/12

Parents and students are reminded that Friday, February 12, is an early dismissal day.  Students will be dismissed at 12:20 PM.

7th Grade Career Day

7th Grade Career Day permission slips are being sent home with students today (Feb. 1) to be signed and returned by this Friday, February 5. Career Day is Wednesday, February 10, from 3-4:30pm.  Participation is strongly encouraged.  Bus transportation is provided.

Principal’s Roundtables Re-scheduled for February 22

The Principal’s Roundtables have been moved to Monday, February 22.  Interested students will have the opportunity to sign up in the main office as the event date approaches.

Pastries with the Principal Re-scheduled for February 18

“Pastries with the Principal,” originally scheduled for January 29, has been re-scheduled for Thursday, February 18, from 8am-1pm.  Parents and community members are invited to drop by for an informal visit with Dr. Wyatt at that time.
