FAQs Specific to Fredericksburg City Public Schools
Q. What is ParentCONNECTxp?
A. ParentCONNECTxp is a convenient home-to-school collaboration tool that allows parents/guardians to keep track of their children’s academic progress online. Parents/guardians may visit the password-protected site to view their students’ schedules, grades, assignments, attendance, and course history. Parents/guardians can receive automatic e-mail notification of unexcused absences, tardies, missing assignments, or failing grades. They can view their child’s student information through the ParentCONNECTxp web site after they have received a User ID and Password.
Q. Who is eligible to use ParentCONNECTxp?
A. Any person who has legal rights (custody) to view his/her children’s school records is eligible to receive a user ID and password.
Q. I do not live in the same household as my child. Can I still gain access to my child”s information on ParentCONNECTxp?
A. Yes, as long as you have the legal rights (Custody) to view your child’s school records, you may have a User ID and Password.
Q. I have questions or problems regarding ParentCONNECTxp.
A. You should start by reviewing our support document located at ParentCONNECTxp Help also linked under ParentCONNECTxp Info in the right sidebar of the Parent Technology Support Site.
A. If you have questions pertaining to your child’s attendance, grades or assignments contact your school.
Q. How do I change my password?
A. You can manage your password for ParentCCONNECTxp and the SchoolNet Parent Portal via the ParentCONNECTxp web interface.
Log in to ParentCONNECTxp at https://parentconnect.cityschools.com with the username and password supplied to you by your child’s school. Select Settings from the upper right corner of the page. Complete the two fields under Change Password. Be sure to enter your email addresses under E-Mail Address. This will allow you to use the Forgot Password function should you require it. While on the settings page you may also select any of the Alert Notifications that you wish to receive. When you are done editing the account Settings page select the submit button located at the bottom of the page.
NOTE: If you change your password it will take effect the next time you log in to ParentCONNECTxp. Your password for the SchoolNet Parent Portal will take 24-36 hours to update. DO NOT CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD FROM THE SCHOOLNET PARENT PORTAL’s WEB INTERFACE!
Q. What do I do if I lose or forget my password?
A. ParentCONNECTxp updates attendance, assignments, and student information once per day. Teachers are required to update their gradebook assignments every two weeks but this is site specfic. However, some teachers will update daily.
Q. What do I do if I am “locked” out of my ParentCONNECTxp account?
A. As a security measure, if you have 3 failed attempts at inputting your username and/or password the system will lock you out. This protects you from having someone sit down and continually try to guess your password. The system will automatically reset itself within 1 hour. There is NO need to contact anyone about the problem.
Q. Why do I receive the message “None of the users’ students could be loaded”?
A. This message displays because the process to populate the information into ParentCONNECTxp to allow you to see your child’s information has not been refreshed. The process may take 24-36 hours.
Q. How do I sign up?
A. The district created accounts for every custodial parent. The log in information was distributed during a planned parent night where Parents were introduced to the district’s parent portals. This session explained the two online tools SchoolNet ParentPortal and ParentConnectxp. You will be required to appear at that school to verify your identity and receive the log in information.
Q. What if I missed the Parent Session and want to access my child’s information?
A. You will need to visit the school and request the login information. Again, you will need to verify your identity to receive the log in information
Q. How long will it take to activate my ParentCONNECTxp account?
A. Your account will be active 24 to 36 hours after you request the log in information from the school. This process includes appearing in person to verify your identity and your relationship to the student. You will receive your user ID and password at that time.
Q. I have more than one child attending a Fredericksburg City Public School. Do I need to sign up at every school?
A. No, you only need to visit one of your children’s schools to sign up. Registration for all children that you have custody of will take place at that school.
Q. What is I don’t see all of my childen in ParentCONNECTxp?
A. This is due to family relationship not being established in our Student Information System. Please contact the school of attendance for the child not displayed. Ask them to add the child to your family. You may need to provide the names of sibling attending other schools.
Q. Can more than one parent/guardian have access to a child’s record?
A. Yes, any person who has legal rights (custody) to view his/her children’s school records is eligible to receive a user ID and password.
Q. When and where can I access ParentCONNECTxp?
A. You may access ParentCONNECTxp 24 hours a day, seven days a week, after you have registered and received your password and user ID. You may access ParentCONNECTxp from any computer with Internet access. (Please be aware that the site may be down from time to time for maintenance.)
Q. Will student Interim reports and report cards be sent home to me as in the past?
A. Yes, you will continue to receive interim reports and report cards as in the past. ParentCONNECTxp is just another tool to improve communication about student academic progress. It will supplement, not replace, existing tools that currently support communication between you and the school. Assignment grades and attendance will be available through the parent portals.
Q. Why does my child’s schedule page list courses that my child is not enrolled in?
A. ParentConnectXp list all courses that your child was scheduled into on the student schedule page. Your child’s active courses appear on the Grade Summary page.
Q. Are my child’s records available for others to see?
A. No, a user ID and password allow access for authorized users only (custodial). Only individuals with legal rights to a child’s records may obtain a user id and password. You should not share your username or password with anyone!
Q. If I have read all of the FAQ’s, but none of them addresses my question, where can I get help?
A. If you have additional questions or concerns regarding any aspect of ParentCONNECTxp, please contact your child’s school.
