AP scores are not being mailed this year
There is an important change in how you will get your AP scores. This July, your AP scores will only be available online. You will not get scores in the mail. To get your AP scores, you must sign up for a free College Board account at apscore.org. Go to this site for more information and instructions. All students who took AP exams will receive a paper/pencil copy of instructions via their AP teachers on Monday, May 13, 2013. Copies of these instructions can be picked up in guidance also.
Dual Enrollment Placement Test Date Change
The dates for the DE Placement tests have been changed. The April 17th and 18th dates for DE placement testing has been changed to May 21st and 22nd. Students who plan to take a DE class next year will need to take the placement test on the May dates instead of the April dates. Sign up in guidance to reserve a spot. See Mrs. Miller in the Counseling Center with questions.
AP exam fees are due by March 25th!!!
Any student planning to take an AP exam is required to pay for it before March 25th. The fee for each AP exam this year is $89.00. Money can be turned in to Mrs. Miller in the Counseling Center or Mr. Griffin in the library. Please make checks payable to JMHS or bring in the exact amount of cash. Separate checks are not needed for each exam. Students will be reimbursed for their exams by FCPS if they score a 3 or higher on the exam. See Mrs. Miller with questions.
ASVAB deadline is approaching! Sign up now.
Any JM Junior or Senior interested in taking the ASVAB should sign up in guidance NOW! The ASVAB will be given at JM on March 13, 2013 in the library at 8:00 A.M. Reserve your spot by signing up in the Counseling Center. Deadline to sign up is Friday March 1.
SAT Workshop at Salem Church Library on March 15th
Huntington Learning Center is providing an SAT Workshop on Tuesday, March 15th at the Salem Church Library in Fredericksburg. It will run from 6 to 7pm. If you have questions, please call 540-548-8110. Questions regarding the SAT test and college admissions will be discussed.
Compass Test Results And Summer Testing Dates
The results for the Compass Tests that the juniors took in April were distributed today (May 19th) during the home room period. Students were given copies of their scores and an informational sheet explaining how to interpret them. Two representatives from Germanna Community College came to explain the advantages of taking the Compass Tests and how to determine if they are “college ready.” We have sign up sheets in guidance for any students interested in college reading or math reinforcement. We also have a sign up sheet for students who need to test. Dual enrollment students can not take a class without passing test scores. Please contact Heidi Miller in the Counseling Center for additional information.

Additional Seats for the June SAT at North Stafford High School
North Stafford High School has informed us that College Board will open a few more seats at their test site for the June 5th SAT Program. They suggested you visit the College Board website starting tonight if you wish to get into the center, otherwise, you take a chance on being a Standby .you do need a credit card to process the online application.

Additional Late Fee: $23.00 if successful online (Test site: 47-628 North Stafford High School)
Additional Standby registration fee if walking in at North Stafford on June 5th with a completed packet and fees (no cash): $38.00– Arrive by 7:30AM . Photo ID, calculator, and pencils- A few packets are available in guidance.

The balance for the AP exams is due by Friday, April 23rd. Please make checks payable to JMHS and turn them in to Mrs. Miller in guidance.
AP sign up deadline
This is the last reminder that deposits for the AP exams are due by Friday, March 19. If you are planning to take an AP exam, you must sign up with your teacher by then. If you are taking an online class, sign up with Mrs. Miller. Deposit is $13.00. Full price is $86.00. Balance must be paid by April 23 to Mrs. Miller. For more information or questions contact Mrs. Miller in the counseling center.
Sign Up NOW for the AP Exams
Teachers are collecting deposits for the AP exams now. All deposits are due by March 19th.
If a student is planning to take an AP exam in May, he/she must sign up with the AP teacher and pay a minimum deposit of $13.00 to that teacher before March 19. The deposit is non-refundable because all exams ordered must be paid for whether the student takes them or not. Also, no additional tests can be ordered after the deadline passes. The total cost for each AP exam is $86.00, and the balance must be paid to Mrs. Miller by April 23rd. (Separate checks must be made for deposits, but the balance can be paid with one check regardless of how many AP exams the student is taking.)
Students enrolled in an online AP class who wish to take the AP exam must turn in a deposit to Mrs. Miller by March 19th also.
