Virginia Youth Challenge Academy: Enabling Virginia’s At- RiskYouth to Reach New Heights

The Virginia Youth Challenge Program is a co-educational, Quasi-military training and mentoring program for at-risk youth that develops the life skills, educational levels and employment potential of 16-18 year old high school students.  It is a 17 and a half month program that invovles 22 weeks in residence at Camp Pendleton and a 12 month Post-Residential Phase.  Through a rigorous interevention model, educational, vocational and technical skills training is incorporated.  Life coping skills, responsible citizenship, health & hygiene, leadership and service to the community are some core components of the program.
