The JMHS School Community:
Tomorrow, March 16, 2012, The James Monroe High School will have a half-day for students. Here is the schedule for Friday, March 16, 2012:
7:30-8:00 JAYEM A.M.
8:05-8:50 Period 4
8:55-9:40 Period 1
9:45-10:30 Period 2
10:35-12:00 Period 3
10:30-10:55 Lunch Wave 1 (tardy bell will ring at 11:00 A.M.)
11:05-11:30 Lunch Wave 2 (tardy bell will ring at 11:35 A.M.; simultaneous bell with the start of the Lunch Wave 3)
11:35-12:00 Lunch Wave 3
12:00 Dismissal
Interims will also be distributed on this day. Please take the time to review your student’s academic progress so far this term. I also need the support of our parents in ensuring that students attend JAYEM A.M. We have several students that are not taking advantage of this academic opportunity, and unfortunately, if the lack of attendance continues, we will have to suspend the program. Suspension of the program will mean that school will resume at 7:45 A.M. daily.
Please speak to your student about the importance of using JAYEM to maintain strong grades and to close the achievement gap. Our teachers and staff will issue new JAYEM AM assignments to students on Friday, March 16, 2012 when they receive their interim reports. We will monitor the progress of the students for a week or two before we make the decision on the suspension of the program.
Thanks,
John B. Gordon III
