Welcome Back!!!

To The James Monroe High School Family:

I want to take this time to welcome everyone back from a restful and enjoyable spring break. It is a very beautiful time of year, and of course it also means a very busy time in the lives of our students and school community.

To our students, we only have about 8 more weeks left of school. Please make sure you finish the school year off strong, and make sure you come to school each and every day. Do not put yourself in a bad situation by not attending school and worrying if you have attendance failed for a class in which you have worked so hard to earn great grades.

Our Spring Sports are doing a great job on the fields and on the courts. We are looking to add more Battlefield District Championships to our display case.

Advanced Placement Testing is just around the corner. Think 5!!!!!

Later on this week we will recognize those students that have earned perfect attendance and honor roll through the third nine weeks. Winners will receive free entree gift cards from Qdoba. Four lucky winners will also win a $50.00 gift card to Spotsylvania Town Center. Remember Honor roll + Perfect Attendance=Your Dream Job!!!

To our parents and guardians, please continue to support our students. Even though they may look like adults, they are still kids on the inside. They need you in order to reach their potential and become succesful. Please check the Schoolnet Parent Portal for their grades and attendance.

We will have a great close to the 2010-2011 school year!!!

Report Cards and Spring Sports Pep Rally

The JHMS Community:

On Friday, April 15, 2011, we will distribute our report cards for the 3rd nine weeks. Students will receive their report cards at the end of the day, prior to the Spring Sports Pep Rally.

If you have not already done so, please pick up your parent portal usernames and passwords. Parent Portal will provide you access to student grades, attendance, assignments, etc…

We will celebrate all of the hard work and determination of our Spring Sports Teams on Friday. These young men and women have been practicing hard since February 22, 2011. We wish them the best of luck for the remainder of the season!!!

Midterm Exams and Parent Portal

The JMHS School Community:

I want to take this time to remind everyone that Midterm Exams begin on Monday, April 4, 2011. Please make sure that your student studies this weekend, gets a good night’s rest, eats breakfast, and comes to school prepared to do well on these very important assessments. The nine weeks will end on April 7, 2011 and report cards will be distribtued on April 15, 2011.

On March 30th and March 31st we distributed Schoolnet Parent Portal information. The Parent Portal allows parents to have access to their student’s grades, attendance, assignments, etc… The Parent Portal will go live on April 4, 2011 and teachers have been asked to update their gradebooks bi-weekly from now until the end of the year. If you did not attend the Schoolnet Parent Portal Distribution times, please pick up your student’s information from the main office. You will need a valid photo identification in order to receive access to your student’s information.

I also want to inform everyone that The James Monroe High School is currently collaborating with the Fredericksburg City Public Schools Technology Department to rectify all issues dealing with student transcripts. The Student Management System run by Pearson is fixing all issues associated with the Crystal Report, wich produces our transcripts. We will also transition to the E-transcripts next year, but still run our current transcript simultaneously for validation of all grades. Pearson will also send trainers and technology experts to FCPS for the remainder of the school year and will be in charge of fixing all transcripts from this point forward. We will also mail all students at The James Monroe High School their transcripts the week of APril 11, 2011 for review. We are all working tiredlessly in this process and I thank all of you for your continued support.
