Three sessions during the summer, Blacksburg (application deadline March 10)

The Black College Institute is a FREE 5-day academic summer enrichment program inviting talented, high achieving and intellectually curious rising high school juniors and seniors from Virginia and abroad.

Hispanic College Institute
In partnership with Valhen, this FREE program empowers Latinx students in the Commonwealth of Virginia with the tools to succeed in high school, college, and beyond.

Fun and engaging summer camps to serve, train, empower, and mentor high school students with disabilities while exposing them to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

RISE (Recruiting Initiative for Student Engineers)
One event per semester, Blacksburg

RISE is a series of events designed and intended for underrepresented students in engineering starting with the spring of sophomore year. May also join as a junior. Free transportation from Tidewater, Hampton and Northern Virginia. Meet students, alumni, staff, and faculty who want to introduce you to Virginia Tech Engineering.

PCI (Pre-College Initiative)
Five Saturdays during the academic year, Blacksburg

Sponsored by Virginia Tech’s National Society of Black Engineers, with the goal of increasing the number of African American students entering college, ideally majoring in engineering, math, science, and other technical disciplines. Activities include lab tours, demonstrations, hands on activities and presentations to help students with the college application process.

June 22 – July 6, Blacksburg

Pathways for Future Engineers is a multi-year Virginia Tech College of Engineering program designed to support first generation students and their families on the pathway from high school to an engineering degree. The program includes pre-college activities  (while students are still in high school) as well as additional support as students pursue their undergraduate degree.

June 30 – July 13, Blacksburg

A two-week summer camp, designed and intended for high school girls. The program introduces participants to engineering and related technologies through various hands-on activities, laboratories, presentations and a team design project sponsored by General Electric.

10:00-11:00am – Walking tour of campus
11:00-12:00pm – Lunch on Campus
12:00-12:30 – Admissions Presentation
12:30-1:00pm  -Stop in Bookstore
1:00pm – Depart George Mason University
1:45pm – Arrive Marymount University
2:00-3:30pm – Presentation and/or walking tour of campus
3:30-4:00pm – Stop in the bookstore
4:00pm – Depart Marymount University
6:15pm – Arrive Monroe High School
