Parents and students! I will be running in the Heritage Festival 5 Mile race starting and finishing at the Visitor’s Center in Downtown Fredericksburg. The race is on Wednesday, July 4 and starts at 7:45am. I’ll be finished a little after 8:10. If you’re in town and coming to the Heritage Festival, I’d love to see you and your students!

Goodbye to all the Fredericksburg teachers and families who I’ve had the pleasure of working with these last six years. Good luck to all of my previous students; my first class is moving on to high school and my last class on to 4th grade. I will miss you all!

Earn extra credit in all subjects this weekend by watching the Prefontaine Classic Saturday on NBC. The meet will be televised LIVE from 3-4:30pm. Turn in a list of the winners to earn extra credit!
On Sunday I will be running the Marine Corps Historic Half-Marathon. It starts at 7:00am at Wegmans. The race is 13.1 miles and runs through the streets of Fredericksburg. I have attached a map of the course. Many roads will be closed during the race.
If you will be watching the race, I hope to see you on the course. I’ll be wearing bright orange and should be amongst the top runners. My race pace will be about 5 minutes and 30 seconds per mile. I’ve included my expected time per mile, so you’ll know when to expect me.

There were no grades on the interim reports for social studies because we have no collected any work for our Famous Americans unit yet. There will be grades for Social Studies on the report card. Thanks!

Sunday, February 26 from 7:30-9:30pm the USATF National Track & Field Championships will be broadcast on ESPN2! Watch this meet and turn in a list of the winners for events you saw for extra credit! This meet selects members of the World Indoor Championship held in Istanbul, Turkey the 2nd weekend of March! Go Team USA!
On Wednesday we will be traveling by bus to Walker-Grant to watch Claire complete in the division spelling bee. Please make sure that your child is at school on time (or early!) on Wednesday as we’ll be leaving at 8:25 from the gym.
There will be no school on Monday, January 30 and Tuesday, January 31! They are both teacher workdays! Have a great 4-day weekend!
